Happy 6th Birthday Malcolm

It was the day Malcolm has been counting down to for months! His birthday finally arrived! He insisted we all get up early so he would have time to open presents before school.

The Lego set he's been wishing for!

Grammy sent Malcolm his own quilt! He has admired his sibling's quilts and longed for his own, and now his wait is over! It's a beautiful one as well!

Malcolm's menu wishes were sweet buns for breakfast, biscuits and gravy for lunch, and Miss Ronni's Book Club Mac and cheese for dinner. We had to bump the biscuits and gravy to Saturday because of school. Thankfully I am blessed with amazing friends, and Ronni thought nothing of me dropping off my crockpot and Mac and Cheese ingredients for her to prepare. And her with a broken ankle!!!

Malcolm is not a big fan of cake, and he wanted a sundae bar for his dessert. His selected toppings were Sour Patch Kids, Whoopers, Jelly Belly's, Nerds, chocolate chips, and various syrups.

Malcolm still adores Evie. Even when she's sticky from ice cream.

I can't believe my little man is six. What a challenging delight the last six years have been!

Malcolm's Last Days of Being Five

Malcolm finished his basketball camp on Saturday.

We went to see Beauty and the Beast and Malcolm came home and drew the Beast.

Late Winter Snow Day

Nothing is cuter than a baby in a snowsuit!

Making Butter in Class (Guest Post by Margaret

When Mrs. Blycheck told us we were going to be making butter in class, I was very excited. When she gave us the jar, she told us not to touch it. She put in the cream and then set the timer for four minutes. We shook our jars. When the timer was done we still had some liquid in our jars, and shook it up a little more. After science we had music, the last period of the day. When I got home I opened the jar and ate some butter on a piece of toast. It was delicious. The End.

Parent Share Day

It was dinosaur time at Kindergarten share day last week!
There were five activities involving dinosaurs!

Evie was less impressed with the creativity being expressed and mostly spent her time trying to escape the cafeteria, shrieking, and knawing on a pair of safety scissors.

Backpacking Injury

A recent backpacking trip was cut short when Isaac's pocket knife closed unexpectedly and got stuck in the bone of his pinky finger. He got eight stitches and after almost three weeks his finger looks as normal as it it going to look.
The night the injury occurred.

His pinky bone is just fine and is expected to heal normally.

The stitches are out! My friend who is a wound specialist came by and checked it out for me after I was worried it wasn't healing well. She said it looks great and it will probably always have that puckered look, due to the nature of the wound. But hey, the ladies love scars, right?
