Second Day

My little scholars off to day 2 of their new school adventure.
Malcolm was playing outside in the sprinkler and kiddie pool yesterday when the neighbor asked him how his day was:
"Well guess what? These are the two worse parts. At recess there aren't enough balls. And the other worse part is that this pool is on a hill!"

He was a little more hesitant today. I'm hoping he just has to get into his new routine and he will love it.

Day 1 is done

We have gotten through the first day of both traditional school and homeschool. Although LMCA doesn't start until next week, the older boys got started with our non-LMCA subjects today at home.
They both LOVED their day. Malcolm claims he made no friends, while Margaret says she made lots of friends. She said at one point that one of her teachers said she would separate her and her desk mate if they continued to chat so much!💜 A girl after my own heart! Both said recess was their favorite part of the day. Both came home with impossible wishes for their lunch boxes (hot lunches but brought from home, not purchased) and both forgot to purchase milk in the cafeteria. This of course reminded me that I forgot to send the money for milk.
Homeschool was filled with its usual beginning of the year ups and downs like computers not working for math and grumbling about workloads and chores.
We will have ups and downs all year, but I am grateful to at least have the first day successfully completed.
Long Island iced tea is the best way to celebrate day 1 of 180 completed. We're doing this! Let the adventure begin!

First Day of School

Backpacks are packed, lunch boxes are filled--Malcolm and Margaret are school-bound!

We are very excited that they get to attend CDT classical school. Malcolm is kindergarten and Margaret is grade 3.

This is a big step for us. We are so excited for these kids!

Westmoreland County Fair

Michael and James had tickets to the Pirates game, and the rest of us met several other families at the county fair.

She's ready to go to the fair!

Margaret was one-half inch too short for all the big rides, but she was a good sport about it and looks forward to next year when she can get on those rides!

Henry and Isaac are up there!

There were so many mom friends there who were willing to ride with my kids that I didn't have to ride anything!

We stayed much later than I anticipated because everyone was having such a wonderful time.

It was quite exciting to see the fair from the parking lot at night.

The kids are excited about possibly entering items into the fair for next year.

She's had enough of the fair!

Back to school lunch

We had our Kruda annual back to school lunch at Eat N Park last Thursday.

Lake Edinboro

Our yearly trip to Lake Edinboro was a huge success. Seven families were able to attend.

We headed north early and spent the day at Presque Isle where we stumbled upon free sailboat rides.

We just made it onto the water when there was thunder and the rides were suspended. Lucky break for us!

At the cabins there were always willing baby holders.

She likes the cabins!

Lots of time was spent on the water.

The babies are getting to know each other.

The whole gang.

The moms.

Ice cream has become a tradition. Malcolm got a second before he even finished his first. Being at the lake means we relax the rules quite a bit.

Volleyball has become an annual tradition. This year folks from other cabins joined in as well.

Oops! Too much camping fun!!!
