Sewing to Summer Link-Up

I am trying this again this year to see if I can actually stay focused until summer.

This month I finished the bedspread I started for Malcolm last year. It is a train-theme (of course) and is officially the third "quilt" I have ever completed.

Instead of quilting the blanket I used the train embroidery design to secure the front and the back.

I got the pattern off etsy for this blanket and just supplied my own fabrics and embroidery.

I only tentatively call this a quilt because I didn't use any batting between the layers and I also didn't use a quilting stitch. It is now on the big bed upstairs, awaiting the day Malcolm moves to the "Boys Room" with his brothers.

Jessica,

I love the train design. That is a neat way to secure the fabric pieces together. I like that you used different thread colors for the trains, but can't imagine how much time it took you to complete the work. I think that you get points for quilting.

I'm sure Malcolm will love his big bed even more when he moves into it.

Thank you for joining Sewing to Summer again. I can't wait to see what you make between now and next month. You can do it. I can do it.

I am a month late seeing this but I love it! I have made some doll quilts using the idea of tacking the front to the back with embroidery but have not attempted it yet with a large quilt. That is on my list of want-to-dos. Great job with this one. I love it!
