Being Popular in Cyberspace

The more I blog and the more I get into blogging, the more I realize that being popular in the blogging world is a lot like winning a popularity contest. You relate a funny event, invent a catchy meme, post an unbelievable photo and WHAM! You have a cult following that looks to you for advice, laughs, and friendship.

You get a certain GPR and companies practically beg you to accept their merchandise in exchange for a mention on your blog. Revenue starts coming in from sidebar ads.

I don't deny that I love to read blogs. Sometimes I gain advice from other homeschooling moms who have "been there, done that." Sometimes I learn the fate of a family and friends from far away. Sometimes I just veg out and scroll mindlessly while the kids are getting into jammies.

I also love to blog. I love to post photos of the kids and tell about our days. I love to get  free products in exchange for reviews I write. I love linking up to memes and seeing what other linkers are posting about.

Blogging is a lot of fun, even if sometimes it does seem like folks are trying to be a part of the "in-crowd" in highschool.

Happy Fourth of July!

I totally relate! I do like the smaller blogs who are not part of the "in-crowd" better though. They just seem more real. Like you, ;)
