Making Christmas Ornaments

7 Quick Takes

7 quick takes sm1 7 Quick Takes Friday

We have really been enjoying our holiday in Georgia. The weather has been great, and none of the boys have been injured by any of the various "ideas" that they've had to pass the time.

I am loving the blogger app I got for my phone. I am probably the last blogger to get this app, but it is so easy to just take a photo and post to the blog. From anywhere!

We went to the airplane museum. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. And it was free!

Before the rain came we were able to go out and cut down our Christmas tree.

We were able to help gift a "new to us" piano to my father-in-law to replace the one that was damaged during the farm remodel. It arrived this week and everyone has enjoyed playing it.

Don't know why many of my photos have become distorted and messed up. I think it is this wimpy laptop I am on.

I am very sad by the events at Sandy Hook. I can not even begin to understand the horror of what those folks up there are going through right now. I look at the photos of those beautiful children and I think that could be my Henry, my friend's Maddie, John, Stephen or Hannah. It is too terrible to even imagine and I wish those parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, and friends can find some sort of peace. How can a mother ever get over something so horrific?

Georgia Aquarium

We were fortunate enough to be treated to another trip to the Georgia Aquarium. The kids had such a good time!

Thank you, Godmama Ann and Godpapa Bob for the wonderful day!

Workbox of the Week

I often think folks don't put enough emphasis on the importance of learning to use scissors correctly. Scissor skills are not just for cutting things out, this activity develops important fine motor control.
I use Kumon books for cutting pages, but you could draw something for your child or even have them cut out pictures in magazines or catalogs.

Activity: Cutting Pages
Materials Needed: Scissors and something to cut
Level: Preschool and up
Cost: Free to under $10.00
Fun Factor: 5 out of 5 for my girl
Work for the Teacher: Little to none
