Review & Giveway: Crayola Innovative Holiday Pack

Get creative this holiday season with Crayola! Inspire hours of wonder, adventure and dreams by giving a child more than presents for the holidays. Crayola brings colorful ideas to life and allows kids to express everything imaginable by making it super easy for parents to find something that will unleash all kids’ original ideas with their Holiday Gift Guide at www.crayola.com/gifts.

There are so many great Crayola gifts on the market this year! My boys loved the Crayola Glow Book.

Using special glowing-ink markers to draw on each of the four clear pages, kids can choose one of the four tracing guides to create original scenes, signs and messages, and arrange them in their desired order. James, for example, drew four stages of a volcano erupting. Using the variable light settings, we were able to watch this simple mountain explode with lava and fire. Henry took a different approach. At five he was a little young for the book, but was still excited to try it out.  He drew four individual pictures and then used the book to light them up independently.

None of my kids had interest in the tracing pages that were included, but I believe the sheets offered a visual representation to the older boys of what can be created, thus improving their own drawings.

Recommended for children ages 6+, the kit includes one Glow Book with 4 clear pages, 4 animation tracing guides and 6 glow markers and retails for $24.99. Available online at the Crayola Website.

Another huge hit was the Crayola Jewelry Boutique.

Using Model Magic and the included special spinner, young artists can create beads for necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. The possibility of shapes and colors is endless, and my product tester did not stop making beads for several hours.

Recommended for children ages 6+, each Jewelry Boutique kit includes 8 packs of Crayola Model Magic to mold 160 beads, 5 bracelet charms, 3 pendant charms, 2 shape cutters, a bead dryer rack, 5 toggle sets, 4 earring posts and ear wires, a bead punch, 18 gems, 2 necklace cords, 1 elastic cord, bead glaze, and the Jewelry Boutique Spinner with storage areas and retails for $24.99.

Sometimes the best gift is just basic crayons. Crayola’s Telescoping Crayon Tower is a great way to not only increase your crayon selection, but also get to see all the crayons at once. I loved watching the kids carefully select their colors. The neat design encouraged careful use, and the crayons were returned to their places (for the most part). It includes 150 different colors and a built in sharpener. The tower retails for $17.99.

Add a little variety to their drawings with the Ultimate Art Supply Case.
Recommended for children four and over, this case includes markers, crayons, colored pencils, watercolors, scissors, glue, and even paper. A great deal for material for only $16.99. The hard red case keeps the stuff contained. Perfect for families with curious crawling babies!

WHAT DID MY PRODUCT TESTERS THINK?

I liked how you could make a bunch of pictures on the Glow Book and then press the button so they would go in a pattern to look like they were moving. Washing the sheets, although somewhat easy, was not my favorite part.

I liked how you could press one of the buttons and it would show the bottom, then the second to the bottom, and then third to the bottom, and then the top. And Mama! The tower of crayons was so cool!

I really liked the Glow Book. I liked how it made my pictures glow. I really like how the art box has paints and regular color pencils.

You will love the jewelry boutique. It is awesome. It is super easy and anyone can do it. I like what is does to the beads when you use the spinner. The beads transform from individual colors to a new color. It's art!

All of these sound great! I think my boys would particularly like the glow book (creating "animated" explosions, how could they not?). My 7-year-daughter would love the bead maker.

I think these all sound amazing... but I think I would be most excited about the jewelry kit for my only daughter. She's 5, so I'd probably save it for her birthday, not Christmas... but with four big brothers, she doesn't often get anything that isn't boy-friendly. So this would be FUN for me. :)
