My parents are fond of my kids. Grandparents usually are. Being a fond grandpa means showing off photos of the grandkids while at work. That is just what my dad was doing one day when he encountered they following comment:
"Oh! They adopted one of them!"
My dad must have then studied the picture he was showing and determining that the children in the photo were indeed his biological grandchildren, set the woman straight (I hope).
The point of this post is that I already know that I do not have "cookie-cutter" children. My children vary in skin tone, hair and eye color, as well as personality. I was not offended by the comment, in fact, I thought it was rather funny. Because this happens quite often, and it always seems to be the same child singled out.
We do not have our adopted child yet, but I am confident that when we do get her, she will fit in with the rest of the crew and become another little blessing from God.
